Install

Install Agent Warden from WordPress.org, let the setup wizard check your site, and create your first agent with a safe template. It takes about five minutes.

Requirements#

  • WordPress 6.9 or later, and PHP 8.1 or later.
  • The MCP Adapter plugin, if you connect an MCP client such as Claude Desktop, Claude Code, Cursor, or ChatGPT. The REST API and WP-CLI work without it.
  • HTTPS and pretty permalinks are recommended. The setup wizard tells you if they are missing.

Install the plugin#

  1. Go to Plugins → Add New, search for Agent Warden, and click Install Now, then Activate. For Pro, upload the zip you received instead.
  2. The setup wizard checks your WordPress and PHP versions, the Abilities API, token security, the MCP Adapter, permalinks, and HTTPS.

Create your first agent#

  1. Go to Agent Warden → Agents and click Create agent.
  2. Choose a template. Read-only auditor and Content editor (drafts only) are safe starting points.
  3. Copy the token when it is shown. It is stored hashed and is never shown again.
  4. Copy the connection snippet for your client from the same dialog.

Remove it#

  • Deactivating stops every agent immediately.
  • Deleting keeps Agent Warden's data by default, because the action log is an audit record.
  • To remove everything, turn on Settings → Data → Delete all data when the plugin is deleted before deleting the plugin. Posts agents wrote are reassigned to the agent's owner, never deleted. On Enterprise, a legal hold keeps everything until it is released.
